What is Kenpo?

Kenpo is an eclectic form of martial arts, borrowing from many other styles and influences. In fact, Kenpo is considered by many to be the first eclectic martial art; having its founding roots stretching back to 520 BCE.
Core to the art’s tradition is adaptability. Some arts cling to their traditions so tightly that they become stale, and stagnant. Kenpo is a living art constantly growing and changing, while respecting its history and traditions. It’s not uncommon for the art to change from generation to generation, as each student is encouraged to add to the art.
Being well rounded, having knowledge in all areas is the key to a functional martial art. Kenpo incorporates elements of martial art striking, kick boxing, Muy Thai, Brazilian Ju-jitsu (ground fighting), Judo (throwing), and Doce Pares (stick fighting). Before MMA became such a common term, there was Kenpo.
